318 - I Brought My BBX On Holiday!
During the past two weeks we have been on holidays in our cottage in the alps. I brought my BBX to have some fun after the long months it spends on a shelf awaiting for moments like this.

315 - Another Claim To The Big Names!
From a few I got some problems with my eyes that sometimes become much dry and it prevents me work on my little cars and to stand to much on the PC (that is a bigger problem considering that I'm an office worker).
Being away from the work bench means that I surf the Web (eyes allowing) reading about RC cars things.
One of the thing that I strive to avoid and that seems to be the mainstream choice about brushed ESC is the use of the Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC.
I own one of them, it comes with in a box that imitates Novak and Tekin boxes sizes in the good old days but it seems to be more suited for a stupid chinese bluetooth device.
The thing that I dont really like is that there are a lot of beautiful cars: new builds and restomod projects that unfortunately falls in quality when I notice wich ESC is used.
To be honest: I'm not interested about its performances or whathever because I will continue to look for something that will looks cool as the ESCs in the good ol days, that carries the appeal of the golden era and that doesen't come from China.
So my daily claim to the big names of the RC industry is about brushed ESC: you own the know-how, keep this hobby great offering to old guys something cool to put in their little cars!

313 - A Pair Of Futaba R203GF
I have been forced to posticipate all the works I intend to do on my Tamiya BBX because fever and other seasonal specialties are hitting hard from the end of last week. Also the post about the new Futaba receivers have been postponed: I couldn't stand I front of a monitor.
Concerning receivers, of course, Im morally obligated to underline that they came with te "made in china" mark of the shame and, pointed this out I have to say that I bought directly an additional receiver to keep my Wild One in running conditions.
The second receiver is the same of the one that came in the 3PV box, a R203GF. I've choosen to go for the receivers without telemetry because, not beeing a racer, it is a feature that would only make things more complicated.
I've seen around the Web there are different brands of compatible receivers, most without antenna (or with internal one) but, in my opionion, if the cost isn't near to the half of an original Futaba one it isn't a good deal.

312 - Futaba 3PV
Last week my new radio has arrived: a Futaba 3PV, I guess there is nothing to add about this radio because it is on the market from a long but I want to spend a word about the first feeling I had grabbing it after the unboxing: it seem very well builted with out creacks spite the mark of the shame on its box.
Finding a new radio haven't been easy because I was focused on a KO one, unfortunately nothing they offer was in my budget (and for a KO I had a higher limit than for the other japanese brands) so for a while I considered the different options between Sanwa and Futaba (none of the new stupid chinese brands have been considered, of course) and finally I've choose what satisfied my need for a linear design considering that, in my budget range, features are more or less the same and that Sanwa are a little less clean as design.

309 - Tamiya BBX, New Parts!
Between the end of 2023 and the first days of 2024 I've ordered and received some stuff for my Tamiya BBX.
Only a pair of Hop-Up options that will give to the car a bit of durability and that will maximize its performance: the slipper clutch and the alluminum cross member that strenghteen the roll cage where dampers are screwed.
Considering that to install the slipper clutch the trasmission will be removed from the chassis I will catch the opportunity to revise the ESC/motor cabling that I never liked since when I decided to use connectors instead of direct soldering.
I will also install the receiver of the new radio that for that time will be arrived (but I'm not happy to use something that is not made in Japan, no I will never stop to complain).

308 - A New Radio Have Been Ordered
After an afternoon of search a new radio have been ordered. Last week after registering my new BBX on my EX-5 memory and after the short shakedown my radio fall to the ground defining its destiny. Unfortunately no KO radio have been found to replace my EX-5 UR bought more than a decade ago so i switched to another japanese brand but the new stuff isn't made in Japan.
