120 - Craft Works

This week, awaiting for next week spares order, I solved a problem with a craft work that satisfies me.
The original Super Astute batteruy tray that, at first look seemed ok, at the second inspection showed some cracks so I decided to made a battery cradle by myself using an aluminum sheet. It will be completed with some aluminum Tamiya bits and a hand made battery strap.

First attempt and definitive shape item finished and polished.

It allows the battery to sit on the chassis for the complete lenght, ace!

I'm very happy about this part: it looks good and smart.

119 - It grows! Slowly but it grows!

This week not much to do and not much done: I've finished the assembly all basic structures, I had to use my dremel on the rear 3D printed arms mount for a perfect fitting and I did a (aborted) experiment with a full set of DT02 arms. I'm doing a list of all the parts needed to complete suspensions so I will be ready for the next shopping session.

Arms in place... hope for ORB printed set.

RC Schrauben stainless steel screws, not a good choice.

Front...

... back with wing holders in place: shiny!

A bit of dremeling.

118 - Drivetrain!

Yesterday I've spent the evening building the TTC gear box. I've used the gears previously cleaned, new ball bearings, almost all stainless screws, new plastics and the original axle.

The new housing with the polished motor plate in place.

Full ballraced gears, the diff is packed with anti-seize grease. Wrong screws unfortunately.

Gears in place with ceramic grease seasonig.

Slipper clutch: all new except for axle and spur.

The TTC in place!

The Corally motor I've refurbished waits for the shakedown.

117-Finally The Build Starts!

Finally I started to build my Super Astute. In the last few days (excluding the weekend) most of the parts I've ordered are arrived (some spares, 3d printed upgrades, stainless steel screws and bearings). This afternoon I've started the build that, choice by choice, will be a random build due to the search of parts I will find and that I will decide to install.

116 - “All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter..." And Viceversa!

Inspected the parts I've previously cleaned I noticed some cracks on the arms, a piece of screw is wedged in his hole on a rear arm and the holes on the uprights seem to be re-drilled. Luckly I've some MadCap arms to use as spares/upgrades and I've recently purchased the original uprights bag fot the Super Astute.

All the parts I've discarted...

...rescues!

The motor plate is finally polished.

115 - Cleaning Some parts

My resto project for the Super Astute purchased some weeks ago is just began. I'm waiting for several spares coming from around the world and until they arrive I'm cleaning the cleanable. The pic below shows the parts I've saved after the first inspection... unfortunately it's not to much and this forced me to spend a lot of money.
